Toonspeak Young People's Theatre (Updated July 07)

North Area, Vibrant Glasgow

Toonspeak Young People’s Theatre provides quality drama and theatre activities for young people aged 11 – 25 years.   The programme is largely participant-led with young people taking an active role in decision-making and the day to day running of the project. The programme includes:

  • Free weekly drama workshops for any young person aged 11 -25 years living in the North Glasgow. Workshops include: games, improvisation and a variety of theatre and performance skills
  • An outreach programme of bespoke projects to benefit as many young people as possible through partnership with local agencies. The format for the outreach programme is flexible and each project is tailor-made to suit the group and their interests/aims.
  • An empowerment programme that encourages young people to take an active role in management through monthly master classes. These monthly master classes aim to encourage the participants to take an active role in the decision-making process of the company.

On Friday 6th July, Toonspeak Young People's Theatre held a fancy dress sponsored walk to George Square in aid of their summer production a the Kelvingrove Museum.  Over 20 young people and adults took part and raised over £200, with more money still coming in.  The walk was organised by the young people's Fundraising Committee and special mention should go to the Toonspeak staff who dressed very colourfully as Cluedo characters.
