Glasgow
Social Economy Partnership (GSEP) was formed in 2004, and acts as a co-ordinating body to bring together a variety of partners and stakeholders to support and improve the city’s social economy. It is supported in this task by a full time Development Manager funded by Communities Scotland and hosted by Glasgow Community Planning Limited as one of the GSEP’s partners.
GSEP reviews its membership regularly to ensure that all stakeholders in the ongoing development of the city’s social economy are given an opportunity to contribute to the partnership. For current membership see our website on www.gsep.org.uk/
What Does GSEP Do?
GSEP has set out a number of aims which were identified through consultation with representatives of partner agencies including public bodies, funders, support and infrastructure agencies and representatives of the city’s social economy.
These aims are:
·
Support social economy organisations towards sustainability
·
Encourage partnership working between agencies at a city wide level
·
Support the development of existing local networks and encourage the development of new ones as appropriate
·
Seek to maximise resources to support the development of the city’s social economy
·
Support the Local Economic Forum and its partners in the promotion of the social economy in Glasgow
In practical terms the GSEP will:
-
Facilitate partnership working amongst support agencies and financing bodies to overcome barriers to the development of the sector in Glasgow
-
Host events to promote specific areas of opportunity for the sector
-
Through its website act as a central reference point for developments, events and information to the city’s social economy
-
Promote the sector as a major deliverer of public services
-
Promote best practice across the city
