Gorbals Addiction Sub Group
Community Regeneration Funding enabled a range of community organisations and statutory agencies to deliver a number of non-mainstream programmes to reduce the levels of drug and alcohol abuse amongst Gorbals residents in accordance with the action plan developed and agreed by Gorbals Addiction Sub Group.
The 3 distinct programmes of work carried out by the Sub Group in 07/08 are:

Health & Education Programme
The Health & Education Programme was led by South East Alternative Lifestyles (SEAL) and offered a range of health & education services including, community development training; drug and alcohol intervention training; and stress management services for families and clients who wish to have positive choices in addressing their stress without using drugs or alcohol.
Arts Programme
Lead partner Impact Arts worked with a range of partners including the Citizen's Theatre to provide a programme of arts activities to engage with individuals experiencing drug & alcohol misuse, and provide pathways into further opportunities for training, volunteering or employment.
Evening & Weekend Diversionary Programme
Gorbals Youth Cafe led on the delivery of a programme of diversionary activities for young people aged 8-18 years. The programme saw a partnership approach with both voluntary and statutory organisations.
