Community Group Funding Available

Community Group Funding Available

North Area, 31/10/2008

Are you a community group looking for additional funding to support your work in your local area?  If the answer is yes then you could apply for additional funding through Glasgow City Councils Area Budgets.

Derek Speirs from Glasgow City Council explains: “The Council has four Area Committees covering the North of the City: Maryhill/Kelvin, Canal, Springburn and North East.  Each of the Committees has an Area Budget that provides funding, normally up to £10,000, to local community and voluntary organisations for projects that stimulate or support local community activities.

“Examples of the type of activities that have been funded in the past include the purchase of equipment and materials, activity costs at outdoor educational centres, environmental improvements, production of educational materials, engagement of professional tutors or instructors, short-term pilot projects, start-up grants or bus hire costs for day trips.”

If you are interested in applying for funding, or would like more information on the Area Budgets, contact Derek Speirs at the Council on 0141 287 3532 or at derek.speirs@ced.glasgow.gov.uk

Please note: Proposals should show how they will benefit an area or community in the North of the City.  Area Budgets do not provide funding for running costs but do support a wide range of developmental projects.
