Launch of Community Capacity Building Library
Glasgow Community Planning Partnership is committed to promoting community engagement in its work. This requires us to assist communities to be active and influential and support people to be confident, skilled and active community members.
This support, which focuses on building the strengths of communities to address their needs, is known as community capacity building and is often provided by Community Development and Community Engagement Staff. Their work will be helped by a new Community Capacity Building Library which was launched at an event held in John Wheatley College, Easterhouse Campus on 8th September 2008.
At the launch event participants received information on the 18 key resources as well as details of 44 recommended resources and references to further resources, all of which are incorporated in the Glasgow Community Capacity Building Library.
The Capacity Building Library will be a valuable aid to staff supporting community groups and indeed groups themselves. Within East Glasgow the libraries can be accessed by contacting:
