Community Capacity Building Resource Library

North Area, 04/09/2008

A new resource for all those involved in community work across the City was launched on Thursday 4th September 2008 in the North Area at Glasgow North Conference Centre.  The Community Capacity Building (CCB) Resource Library has been developed by Glasgow Community Planning Limited as part of their drive to strengthen and involve community groups, individuals and local organisations so they can play a more active part in their communities.

The purpose of the CCB Libraries is to equip Community Planning partners, officers and communities with a resource which provides robust and consistent reference materials for Community Engagement and CCB across the City of Glasgow.

The CCB Libraries will result in tailored resources providing critical and consistent reference materials across the city.  Pooling these key resources across the 5 Strategic Planning Areas and the city as a whole will not only provide robust resources, but would ultimately become the first point of reference for partners, officers and communities alike when discussing or addressing CCB issues.

Steven Dowling, Engagement Network Coordinator explains: “Community Planning is based on the principle that partnership working brings real benefits to communities. Through community engagement work we are working hard to bring local organisations, service providers and the community together to help shape, influence and improve service delivery.  Involving the community is vital if services are to be targeted effectively.  Equally important is the need to develop the skills and confidence of groups and individuals so they can play a full and active part in consultations and the planning process.”

Two dedicated libraries in the North can be accessed at our Community Planning offices at Rosemount Workspace, Unit W4, 141 Charles Street, Royston and at the Community Health & Care Partnership base at Stobhill Hospital
